Research: Family Caring In Ireland (2013)
Family Caring in Ireland is a report by Care Alliance Ireland. It shows that in April 2011, 4.1% of the total population was providing unpaid assistance to others. Ireland’s Census 2011data indicated that a total of 6,287,510 hours of care was provided each week, giving an average of 33.6 hours per carer.
The report also states that in 2011, labour force participation amongst carers was found to decline with increasing number of hours care provided.
