A Night At Palliser

On a December night Mark Gee set out from Wellington to the remote coastal area of Cape Palliser on the south eastern tip of the North Island.

His goal was to capture the Geminid meteor shower but unfortunately, being so far south on in the Southern Hemisphere, the meteors were few and far between. All was not lost, as it was a perfectly dark cloudless night and millions of stars were shining above. What Mark wasn’t expecting that night was to capture the Aurora Australis (or the Southern Lights).
