Living Every Moment, Hospice NZ
Hospice NZ is the national organisation supporting hospices throughout the country in their work of caring for people who are dying. Hospices are also a source of information for those caring for someone who is very ill or dying.
The hospice philosophy of care extends beyond just the physical needs of the person, putting equal importance on what is happening in an emotional, social and spiritual sense. This care extends to family and carers as well.
All hospice services and information are free.
Hospice NZ’s website offers many resources to support you and your family through what will be an emotional, difficult time. It also provides details so you can find the hospice service closest to you.
You can find helpful facts on how to develop coping mechanisms, home nursing tips, information about mourning and bereavement, and ways to help you and your family talk about death. These factsheets are available to download free of charge, and have been taken from Hospice NZ’s wonderful free publication, A Guide for Carers.
The website has links to other useful sites, and videos from families and individuals who have used, or are using, hospice services.
