Despite a growing emphasis on the need to care for carers, delivering respite that responds
to the lives of disabled people and those who support them has proved difficult to achieve.
The aim of this research was to generate information that could be used by those interested
in responding to the respite needs of New Zealand carers that aligns with current respite
policy and best practice models of support.
